My Grandparents......

Here are a few photographs of my grandparents. They were married for 55 years before my grandpa (or papa as I always called him) passed in 2007. I can only hope that my hubby and I can follow in their footsteps.....

For the Love of clothes.... what I wore

So on Saturday I had a scentcy party to attend. It was my very first outing alone with no mister and no kiddos. Unfortunately I again used my cruddy camera phone and my bathroom mirror to try to snap a quick pic since it was such a rare occasion of me getting dressed up. What you miss in this picture is the awesome flare leg of my jeans, my shoes and my coat that I hadn't put on yet! I even tried out red lipstick which was the first time I have done so since I chopped off my hair. Anyways it was fun to be around a few of the ladies without being pulled on or holding a baby... although I will admit that I felt like I had forgot something the whole time I was there!
Here is what I wore:
Black Button Down Shirt given to me from Mrs. Krista, High Waisted Bell Bottom Sailor Jeans also given to me from Mrs. Krista, Red Suede Platform Pumps (not pictured)Thrifted 4 years ago, Black and White Hounds-tooth Coat (not pictured) Vintage.

Today's Style Inspiration.....

So today's style was inspired by the ever so lovely Jean Seberg who most would be surprised to learn was actually an American actress although she was best known for her french films. I love how she was able to wear her short crop with masculine inspired clothing and still look feminine. I picked out this look above, mainly because of it's simplicity and effortless look it demonstrates. Here are some modern pieces that I put together that gave a nod to this iconic look.....

I pulled out one of my many plaid shirts from my closet.... remember when these were all the hype two falls ago??? Well reuse them!!!!

I pulled on a gray v neck sweater on top of the plaid shirt and pinned a flower brooch on the vest... just for a bit of flair

Then I finished off the look with a pair of black flats... which I have been favoring a lot lately.

A Nod to 70's Boho.....

I am so excited that 70's boho fashion is back in full swing. Personally out of all of the decades of fashion I find that 70's boho is the most wearable and most comfortable. I can't wait for spring to come, how easy will it be to pull on a peasant top, bell-bottoms and a pair of platforms?Anthropologie Top

Today's Style Inspiration.....

So I am sooooo super excited over the awesome find I made. I just bought myself this gorgeous 70's boho dress (pictured below). I have been looking for a great white peasant dress for years and I finally scored one that I love. Another plus is that you can rock this style too.... in case you haven't been following fashion trends for the spring or tuning into the runway's 70's boho is what it is all about. So do not fear, if you are not partial to having something authentic but desiring the look you need not look any further than your local mall. Here is how I am planning on wearing my dress....

Today's Style Inspiration.....

So today's style inspiration came from the every so gorgeous and funny Lucille Ball. I particularly loved when Lucille ball wore button down collared shirts or cardigans tucked into a pleated or A line skirt. Well today I mimicked this iconic style, while still keeping it currant. Here's how:

Then I pinned on a red flower brooch to the cardigan to dress it up a bit and give it that lady like touch....

Next I paired the cardigan with a long, high waist-ed pleated skirt in gray and a skinny leather black belt
Lastly I added a pair of black flats... you could also do heels but since I am always carrying a baby so I need something a bit more comfortable....

Twiggy Eye Makeup How To....
Isn't Twiggy's eye makeup to die for? Almost 50 years ago... and it is still fantastic. I found this awesome picture of twiggy applying her own eye makeup. The key to her look besides her false eyelashes? The thin black eyeliner applied perfectly along the lash line and the "clumping" of her lashes on the lower lashes. I am so going to try this, when I actually start having time to adequately get ready. Although that is probably a ways off still since my baby bird is only 6 months old. I am quite curious though... how long do you think this will actually take???

Here is a free last minute DIY for your little girls stocking. These vintage paper dolls would make a cute and easy addition to her stocking. Just print on card stock and cut out. These would look really festive and cute in a clear cello bag with a big bow.

Speakeasy at 1220 Fifth Ave...

Loving these images from the shoot entitled Speakeasy at 1220 fifth Ave, over on From Me To You. Wish I could have been there, old jazz, swing dancing, and beautiful clothes. Just a quick little FYI, speakeasy is a term that was used during the roaring 20's to refer to a place where you could get together to drink, dance and socialize. Drinking was illegal during this time, which was refereed to as prohibition.
