Falls Best Trends......

So I know it is still hot.... but, soon we will be falling upon the chilly months of sweaters (my favorite!) pants, boots and scarves.  I happen to love fall time the best.  I thought I would give you a little update to what to look for to stay on trend with this next season. 

1. SUITS - I am loving this trend!  So Katherine Hepburn ( if you don't know who that is than shame on you!)  Think pant suits in muted and classic colors.  Textures play a big part of this trend, my favorite?  Tweed!  Remember to pull off a head to toe tweed pantsuit you need to keep accessories clean and uncluttered.  Think classic and chic.

2.  Naturalist Prints -  outdoor inspired prints, such as the horse printed shirt dress above, and tribal prints are big for fall.  So hang on to those tribal prints tops, skirts and dresses from summer.  To make the style fresh and current play up the print with a mix of textures.  Think Cable Knit tights and/or a leather belt.


3. LIBRARIAN 
CHIC- Layered with a shirt, a silky dress is a smart daytime look, but can go straight to night with a slick clutch.

4. Mens Wear - This is a trend that falls near and dear to my heart.  Menswear makes a huge comeback.  Make it bold with a full black suit and tie or if you want to take the minimalist approach, add a mens tuxedo jacket over your skinnies for a night out on the town. 

5. URBAN 
GOTH - head to toe black is making a comeback in a big way.  Remember the 90's movie The Craft???  Lol, boy does that bring back memories.  This falls goth is more polished and clean.  Head to toe black in classic cuts such as a maxi skirt (huge for fall) black cardi, ankle boots and a cuff.  Keep the look polished by adding sleek hair and clean makeup to avoid looking too "halloween chic."


6. HANGIN’ 
TOUGH - mixing soft and hard is what this trend is about.  Pair your classic checked button down with girlie details such as a slip dress with delicate accents and an over the knee stocking.. 


7. SWEATER -  There is nothing I love more than a comfy sweater.  Fall is all about over sized cozy cable knit sweaters.  Think cozy, like the sweater you would want to snuggle up in by the fireplace.  To keep it from looking frumpy.. remember to pair it with lush form fitting pieces such as a suede riding pant, slip dress or tailored short.

8. Animal Prints -  another trend that has made a comeback in full force is the animal print, but in an unexpected way.  Accessories such as a great animal printed handbag, pump, hat or scarf.  Punch up that monotone pant suit with a punch of print like the photo above.  The hat, scarf and gloves keep the suit fresh and young with some major eye candy appeal.

 So I have to apologize for the long..... and I mean long gap in posts.  Life just got a bit busy over this summer with all the kids at home.  I have so much to catch up on and fill you in on including our family vacation and Mayson's first Birthday.   But for now I thought I would do a quick clothing post..... hopefully I will be able to get back into the swing of things here on the blog when the girlie birds are back in school.  I am making homemade eggplant Parmesan today... and needed a few things from the store.  Here is what I wore:

For the Love of clothes.... What I Wore

Hello my lovelies.... I know I have been the most horrible blogger...... but it is not without reason.  I have been so sick (and I am still not completely 100%) but I am feeling much better.  I have had the nastiest cold, that almost felt like a flu!  It went from the Haylei bird to the mama bird and baby bird, and even Sumo bird got a little touch of it.  We are all feeling much better now so yay for that. 
The weather was so nice today, sunny with a breeze and in the mid 70's.  I went to the farmers market and came home with 6 bags overheaping with fresh fruits and veggies.....Yum!  This evening our little bird family went to eat at Soup Plantation at the request of Mrs. Haylei bird.  We love that place!  We are planning a stay at home and relax day for Saturday since last weekend was so busy for us.  The daddy bird and I will be teaming up to put together the little birds new swing set.  Then we are gonna have our weekly family movie night on Saturday evening.  I had Sumo snap a few pictures of what I was wearing today:

For the Love of clothes.... What I Wore

Well today I woke up feeling quite under the weather.  The Haylei bird had been sick on and off all week and I think this mama bird might have finally caught a bit of what she had.  As the day progressed on I found myself feeling a bit better..... (thank you tylenol!)  Anyhoo... the Haylei bird gets out of school early today and I am taking my three little birdies to get some frozen yogurt after I pick her up.  This weekend is gonna be quite busy for me!  Saturday I have to get new tires on my car, Sunday my father in law is coming up from Bakersfield to celebrate his birthday with us and Monday the daddy bird and I are hosting a BBQ for Memorial Day.  I had the Sumo bird snap a few shots of what I wore today.... I have found myself having to get creative with what I choose to wear lately since a lot of the mama birds clothes are now a bit big(not that I am complaining).  Here is what I am wearing:

For the Love of clothes.... What I Wore: A Moment of Triumph!

So I had to share this...... I will admit this is not a super cute outfit or anything..... actually this is very casual.  Today is a crazy day, the Haylei bird got out early from school and has her open house tonight.  I had to bake 2 dozen cupcakes for the bake sale all at the last minute as well.  I have tons to do around my house.... but I had a moment of pure triumph today.  I decided to see if I could fit into my skinny jeans that I have not been able to wear since high school......  Yes I have hung on to these things for the simple point of seeing if I could ever be that size again after having three kiddos.  And shizammmm!!!!  I do!  This is so monumental for me!  I am basking in my own glow!!!!

For the Love of clothes.... What I Wore

So I must first apologize for being a horrible blogger.  Life has been quite full and crazy lately..... ever since I got on this new kick about becoming healthy again I have been putting all of my extra time into that.  To make it short and sweet and to catch you up to date on what has gone on the past week.... I had a lovely mothers day!  I will post a whole post about it complete with pictures soon I promise.  I have been busy busy busy party planning for Mayson's first birthday and Sumo's 5th birthday.  I am happy to report that I am almost done with Sumo's although, Mayson's still needs some work.  I have dropped down two dress sizes in the past three weeks.. and am rediscovering how to dress my newly shaped  body and trust me this is so much easier said than done!  But I am happy and feeling better than I have in a long time.  So today I went and had some lunch with the hubby, and went to the salon for a trim.  I had little Sumo bird snap a few pictures before we left.  Please excuse the beatle looking shag on my head.....  these were before my cut! So it has been really warm here the past week... and I have to say I am loving it.  I have been working out everyday and watching what I am eating because I am trying to get ready for bathing suit season... Yay!  I had to make a trader joe's  run today with my girlie Mrs. Krysta and then went out to a quick lunch.  I dressed comfy and casual today since I had errands to run... this is what I wore:

Here are just a few things I am crushing on from Gap's new line........

Spring Fashions for Mom's.......

So the one thing I hate the worst is what I and a close gal pal of mine call the "Mom" uniform.  Too many woman fall into a rut and sacrifice style in the name of "momhood."  Now it is usually one of two reasons as to why this happens.  The first is a lack of "time."  I will admit that once the kiddos come.... you pretty much sacrifice any you time to care for those little birdies.  The second is the common excuse of wanting to be "comfortable."  Now I am here to tell you that as a mama bird of three..... you can have style, and comfort without having to put in much time at all.  It's mostly about rethinking the way to group or pair clothing, and I will admit... this did not just come to me overnight.  I had to reteach myself how to dress after having kids.  Here are three great and easy looks for spring that you can do....  key pieces to these looks are actually things that you probably already have in your closet:

Rethinking shorts and a t-shirt..... instead of putting on a pair of running shorts and your husbands oversize tee, why not try a pair of jean or linen shorts with that old striped tee that was all the rage two seasons ago????  Make the style trendy and current by choosing shorts with unique or oversized pockets and add a skinny belt.  Although flip flops would totally work with this... why not pair it with a pair of leather gladiator sandles to keep it fresh?

Okay so Maxi dresses are still cute and so easy... I guarantee that every woman (and especially mom's) have atleast one in there closet.  Recycle the dress by wearing it with a flowy scarf or slub knit vest.  Accessories are what totally made the Maxi dresses look refreshed this spring on the runways.... flat sandles, chunky bracelets and even a cute hat can transform that trusty staple you have already grown to love into a fashion forward look that is easy to wear......

Lastly..... the sun dress.  Every few years these come back into style with full force.  If your anything like me... you have a few already hanging out in your closet from years past.  They are easy, comfy and effortless.  You can find affordable little sundresses just about anywhere right now... to keep it looking on point for this seasons trend.. try to look for prints that have a retro feel, think 60's mod or 70's boho, you can find this at most stores right now or you could be even more authentic and wear a vintage sundress(my personal preference)  Look no further than your local consignment shops to score a dress or two.  Muted and bold colors with both do, and a print is a must whether it be tribal (so big right now) floral or graphic.  Upcycle your old sundress with bold jewelry and a cute jeweled sandle.

For the Love of clothes.... What I Wore

It is a gloomy day here today.... the kind of day that makes you want to curl up on the couch in your pj's , watch old movies and cook soup!  Unfortunately I cannot do any of those... since I have so much to do.  I bought this dress months ago and have only worn it once.  Since it will be hot by the end of the week, and we are having many more warm days lately then cold I thought I would give this dress one last wear before the season changes and it gets packed away in the back of the closet.  I am working on a great little freebie for you my dear readers that I am super excited about.  Hope the rest of your Wednesday is sweet!

So it is lovely weather here today, finally because it has been quite cold here for the past week!  We had a very busy day yesterday... The Haylei bird got her ears pierced, Sumo bird got a new pair of shoes (wait till you see them!!!) the daddy bird also got a new pair of shoes... and the mama bird and baby bird got a few new little things.  I will post more about that a little later......  the little bird family is waiting for the daddy bird to get back from playing golf, we are headed out to lunch not too sure where we are going to yet.  Here is a quick little peak at what I am wearing:
